TransAlba
was formed in 2001 as a result of a meeting between Andrea and Cath
Brown and Caroline Crozier at the Pride Scotland march in Edinburgh.
Both Andrea and Caroline are post-op transsexual women, and Cath is Andrea’s wife. Over the course of the day, it became apparent through our conversations that although there were plenty of excellent support groups in the area, there was nothing specifically for transsexuals. We therefore decided to form TransAlba Transsexual Support. Since then we have campaigned tirelessly for the rights of transsexuals, especially male to female throughout Scotland and beyond. Our experience and expertise is now recognized by the Scottish Parliament, NHS Scotland and all the Scottish Police Forces. We work very closely with other groups and agencies such as Equality Network, Press for Change and GIRES. We operate a helpline for transsexuals, their partners, families and friends every Wednesday evening from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. You can contact us by phoning either: 0781 846 7512 or 07930 880 410 We also hold a “drop-in” on the third Saturday of every month from 2.00pm to 4.00pm at: Café
Sala You can also e-mail us on:
Finally, we are currently working with Age Concern Scotland and Equality Network regarding the needs of older “T” people, and we’d like to hear from you if you feel that are “older”, or if you have any anxieties about getting older.
